Update History

I like keeping a record of every change I make - it's satisfying to look back and see how far the site has come. Newest updates at the top. I use little version numbers like a real project.

v1.7 · 13 June 2026

New white look + a videos page

Changed the whole site to a clean white background because it's easier to read and to print. Also added a "Videos" page where I recommend astronomy videos from NASA, Crash Course, Kurzgesagt and SciShow Space, with a note on why I chose each one.

v1.6 · 12 June 2026

Mobile & accessibility pass

Made the whole site work properly on phones with a slide-down menu. Added a "skip to content" link, better colour contrast, and arrow-key support in the explorer. Chose the domain lifeofastar.com.au.

v1.5 · 6 June 2026

Improved the glossary

Added a live search box so you can filter terms as you type, and added a bunch of new words I'd been collecting (gauss, starquake, parallax and more).

v1.4 · 29 May 2026

Added the quiz section

Built a 12-question self-marking quiz in JavaScript with explanations for every answer, plus a "knowledge challenge" with harder open questions.

v1.3 · 9 May 2026

Expanded the magnetar section

This is my flagship topic so I made it the biggest page: added soft gamma repeaters, giant flares, the magnetic field comparison tool, and a magnetar diagram I drew in code.

v1.2 · 27 April 2026

Added the Star Life Cycle Explorer

Learned SVG and JavaScript and built an interactive explorer you can click through, plus a stellar evolution tree diagram and a comparison chart of how stars end.

v1.1 · 22 March 2026

Split into multiple pages

The one-page site got too long, so I broke it into an Astronomy intro, the Life of a Star, and Magnetars. Added the first version of the glossary and a star life cycle diagram.

v1.0 · 14 February 2026

First version online

My very first website! One page, plain styling, just my Science Quest magnetar research typed up in HTML. Wonky but I was so proud of it.
